That left G who continues his parkrun toursim streak and visited Bestwood Village parkrun which is over in Nottingham. He was a bit slower than normal but given a very hilly course that is one of the toughest around he did pretty well. He was also out volunteering as marshall at Junior Parkrun over at Malvern on Sunday. He continues to train for the Annecy Marathon as well, and followed up his parkrun volunteering with a 12 miler! There is no stopping him.

That’s it for this week. Spring is coming and the first snowdrops have appeared in my back garden. I reckon I need to go a bit of weeding…….

I’ll maybe give Evelyn a ring….

BEST EVER AGE GRADE FOR ANN!!

Second parkrun of the year brought beautiful weather to Brueton which was a change from the mud and rain. The usual suspects were out and there was a very close three way tussle between Kelly, Angie and Ann, who finished in that order, but with only 17 seconds to separate them. Kelly knocked 21 seconds off her total and had a great run, although not enough to take any bonus points this time. The three points went to Angie, who took a huge 4 minutes and 18 seconds off her total, and Ann took one point by taking 1 minute and 40 off hers. Ann continues to improve and not only came second in her category but also got her highest age grading ever, at 66.99%. Can she get 70% before the year is out? Definitely! Go Ann!!

Tomo was also out at Brueton, taking almost a minute off his target by finishing in 27:38. Mark took a walk due to a stiff back, but put in a very respectable sub 55 minutes in the winter sunshine.

Further afield and it was Cassie who continued her great comeback over at Bournemouth where she picked up the two points by going 2 minutes and 41 seconds under her target to finish in 31.33. Well done Cass.

George also continues his parkrun tourism, this time out at Market Harborough where he reports a busy but pleasant course. As some of you will know he is attempting the Annecy marathon later in the year and followed up yesterday’s effort with a 17 miler. Great stuff from G.

Out virtually were both Lu and Liz, the latter being out in Bangkok, while she awaits news on her visa. Best of luck with that and let’s hope it comes through this week.

Other news is that young Caitlin has been in hospital where like her sister not so long ago she had to have her appendix moved pretty sharpish. I am pleased to report she is back home and on the mend. Best wishes to Caitlin.

Seven of us out on the first Saturday of the year, four of those over at Brueton on what was a pretty muddy park that resulted in a slow start. Not enough to stop Tomo though, who took 2 minutes and 30 seconds off his target to go well under 29 minutes and so take the three points. Ann and Kelly were also out and both reduced their targets, while Angie was a few seconds over.

It was Bern who managed to take the two points though, running on a virtual course in Spain in what looked like glorious weather. She was close to Tomo, taking a huge 2 minutes and 26 seconds off her total to run 35:15. Mark was also out virtually, choosing a brisk walk as he just getting over a cold.

Glorious blue sky in Spain

The remaining bonus point was taken by G who continued his parkrun tourism and clocked up another location over at East Park in Wolverhampton as well as one bonus point. Once again he put in the weeks quickest time at 21.01. Rumour has it that he is planning a different parkrun every week for a year which would be quite an achievement. Go for it G!

That was it for this week. Good news is that Caitlin and Cara are starting a training programme along with their Mum and Dad and are hoping to join us in the spring. I’ve added them to the table and as a starter for ten have given them the same target as Granny Marg but I am sure they won’t be long in breaking that and a few more besides.
